Jonathan P. Spence
Jonathan P. Spence was born April 17, 1971 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and raised in Falmouth, Maine. He graduated from Skidmore College in 1993 with a self-designed major in music composition. He earned his Juris Doctorate in 2000 from Franklin Pierce Law Center where he was a contributor to IDEA, The Journal of Law and Technology.
Mr. Spence began his career as in-house counsel; beginning with work in California with the intellectual property and licensing departments of FOX and Warner Bros., and later as general counsel to UAV Corporation, a large distributor of home entertainment products, where he was responsible for not only managing the intellectual property assets of the company itself, but for negotiating and drafting the licenses for hundreds of audio, video and computer software titles for sale worldwide. Mr. Spence has also served as a copyright and trademark attorney with Tillman Wright, a boutique intellectual property firm located in Charlotte, North Carolina; as well as the head of the intellectual property group of a general practice firm based in Nashville, Tennessee where he served as editor of the firm's national newsletter on intellectual property and entertainment law.
Mr. Spence joined Adams Intellectual Property Law in 2008, where his practice focuses in the areas of trademark, copyright, and unfair competition as well as intellectual property litigation.
